This is the second time I’ve been to Kirk Eye Center on Harlem. I could not be more pleased. I’ve never had to wait more than a minute or 2 after I arrive. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I’ve seen the technician Rose and Dr Kirk Jr both times and enjoyed being assisted by both. There is even plenty of parking. Glad to have them caring for my diabetic and other needs More
Gurnee Kirk is my "go to home office". Recently had the Femto/Lasik cataract surgery at the surgical center in River Forest. I cannot begin to tell you how professional and yet personal everyone was I came in contact with. From the doctors and technicians, to staff and even the terrific van driver. I knew that eventually I would need Cataract surgery. I attempted to find a surgeon, but I was disappointed with reviews until I changed my eye doctor to Dr Crawford in Antioch who agreed that I would benefit from surgery and recommended Kirk Eye Center in Gurnee. My experience has been nothing short of miraculous. The appointments were prompt and professional. The procedure was PAINLESS, and recovery has been free of any problems! The results exceeded my expectations. In my closet, I can tell the difference between Navy and black. I don't need a flashlight to see the floor in my car. I can see the back of my cabinets. I had my first visit to Kirk Eye Center today to have a chalazion (stye-like) removed from my eyelid. Everyone in the facility was super nice and made me feel right at home. Was looking to switch eye doctors and Kirk Eye Center was highly recommended. I made an appointment for myself and saw Dr. Patel and had a very good experience. Every employee I dealt with was very nice and helpful. I was able to get in and out very quickly with hardly any waiting around. After my good experience, I decided to make an appointment for my mom who saw Dr. Scott Kirk. Again, very good experience. All of the employees are very nice and helpful. One of the technicians, Ursula, was extremely helpful and made sure my mom who is disabled was cared for and made comfortable throughout the appointment. I had cataract surgery on both eyes this past month. The pre-surgery visits were efficient and informative detailing my options for new optical lenses and what I would need to do to prepare. My husband had an amazing experience here! The consult was about an hour and a half where they review everything about your eyes and make sure you're a candidate. They will then have you meet with the scheduler afterwards to discuss cost and scheduling (if you're ready). The day of the surgery was great! He was there for about an hour and a half, didn't feel any pain and was back to 20/20 that same day! Couldn't recommend Dr Kirk any higher! More

I was referred to Dr. Tyler Kirk after cataract gone bad surgery, performed by another doctor at a different eye clinic, blinded me in my right eye. Two other doctors couldn't do what Dr. Tyler did, which was perform surgery to restore my sight in that eye. Seeing better! Who would believe the colors after cataract surgery would be so vibrant? First the left eye, then the right eye was the plan. Well, it was very easy to understand the importance of great eye care after I covered my left eye (with my hand) , looked at an object and for many years thought it was burgundy, but, in fact it was purple. Well, this is just my example of how surprised I was to see the brightness and clarity around me. I cannot thank the Kirk Eye Center enough for the wonderful service that they provided for me. I am 78 years old and I had cataract Lasik surgery done in both eyes in March of 2023. From the start to the finish, all exams were done at the Glen Ellyn office and Lasik surgery was done in River Forest. I have to say that all the people working at the two locations, under Dr. Kent Kirk, are beyond words. They are like family and yet very professional. Dr. Kent walked me through the steps leading to the Lasik surgery, which is very rewarding and totally painless. I opted for the IOL lens replacements, which I highly recommend. The receptionists were very accommodating in scheduling appointments. The technicians explained what each test determined, while the doctor determined and implemented the correct action. I am absolutely delighted with Kirk Eye Center! I was previously treated for dry eye issues at a major eye clinic in DuPage County but wasn’t seeing any improvement. I first saw Dr. Tyler Kirk at his Glen Ellyn office who took a thorough history and really listened to me! He referred me to Dr. Carter Kirk at the River Forest location where again, I was treated with empathy and understanding. He recommended treatments that are really working for me! My vision has improved drastically! I can’t recommend Kirk Eye Center enough. The doctors are knowledgeable and compassionate and the staff is fantastic (shout out to you, Cassandra)! I recently had cataracts removed & trifocal lenses put in on Dec. 20, 2022 & 3 weeks later, Jan. 10, 2023. I couldn't be happier with the surgery (it was quick & painless) and the results (my vision is now 20/20 with colors being brighter & images being sharp & clear. It no longer looks like I'm looking through wax paper) I do not have to wear glasses for distance or reading anymore. I had my favorite frames turned into UV-polarized sunglasses! Kirk Eye Center is the best! The Surgical center in River Forest fulfilled all my needs. The staff was accommodating, pleasant, & right on task, explaining what was being done for every step along the way. I was comfortable & relaxed. The doctor, Carter Kirk was very professional, knowledgeable, explained each step, and made sure I was fine at every step of the surgery. You could tell her is an expert at his job. I came here for LASIK not long ago and I had an incredible experience! All of the staff were wonderful, the consultation process was thorough and tailored to my individual situation, and it was easy to get in contact with someone if I had questions. The process of getting LASIK at the surgery center was also great, all of the staff I interacted with were awesome and I felt like I was in good hands the whole time. I left with all of my questions answered, and I felt fully prepared to take care of myself post-procedure. I was really appreciative that Dr. Kirk called me later on in the evening to check in and make sure that the acute post-op period went smoothly, and I know who to call if I ever do need anything from them in the coming months. Superb Work, Doctors very Professional and very Professionally Skilled from the Fathers, Uncles and Sons. The Clean Atmosphere floors not dirty, tables were not dusty or dirty. The Reception Desk personnel were very Caring, Warm and Helpful. The Admitting Nurses whether Female or Male was exceptionally Courteous, Kind and Well Trained. Surgical Area Clean, Staff was Exceptionally Caring, Attenative and Warm Hospitable. I was referred here by my eye doctor when I mentioned interest in LASIK. The consultation alone sold me - Dr. Kirk and all of his staff were SO kind, the surgical coordinator Joyce was wonderful and talked me through all my options, so LASIK was a no brainer after that. The actual procedure was quick, the nurses and medical assistants were awesome, Dr Kirk walked me through everything and I knew how to get ahold of him in case something went wrong. She got me so stressed out I had to have Danielle take over and she was amazing. I miss Shirley. I give a 5 star as I have been going to their clinic many years and Dr Scarpulla treated me for Glaucoma and have helped through issues with my eyes. I was recommended for surgery of my left eye. I went into Kirk Eye Center in for the first time for my annual exam and prescription update. Everything was exceptional from beginning to end. The staff made sure that I was seen right away. My ophthalmic technician was clearly well-versed, experienced, and ready to answer my questions. Her cool and calm demeanor spoke of her professionalism. I came here because of rapidly declining vision in my right eye. I was assigned to Dr. Kent Kirk (one of several of the family of Dr. Kirks in this practice) and was absolutely amazed at the quality of the care I received here! Dr. Kent spent nearly an hour (!) with me carefully examining my eyes, asking questions about my health history, diagnosing my condition (which fortunately was treatable), answered ALL my questions and fears, and made real sure I left with the eyedrops and Rx for supplements I needed to care for my condition. When is the last time a doctor spent an hour with you?! He has a kind, gentle chairside manner, reassuring me in no uncertain terms that my vision was 100% fine and just needed some TLC. I returned today for my follow-up and got the green light to resume using my contact lenses, and I couldn't be happier! His treatment worked beautifully! I strongly recommend this caring and highly professional family-owned practice to everybody. And they even took my insurance! How sweet is that! More

On the day of LASIK I was really nervous but the staff was very positive and made me feel at ease. Dr. Kent Kirk did a fabulous job. He comes to chat with you before the surgery to give a run down and made me feel so much less nervous. They use the most up to date LASIK machines and the process was so simple. I was in and out in less than an hour and they took great care of me. I went home and slept as they recommended and woke up being able to see perfectly! Although I am fairly young, for some reason my eyes started to develop cataracts. Getting to a point when driving my car became a dangerous adventure, after a thorough search on internet I have opted for cataract surgery at Kirk Eye Center. I wasn’t disappointed, everything there was top notch! Starting from the receptionists to the nurses, I was always treated in a very professional and courteous manner. All my life since childhood I’ve had poor vision but now after my right eye surgery I have 20/20 vision! Hi my experience with Dr. Tyler Kirk was very good he did both my eyes, first Cataracts removal then for my glaucoma he put in a stint to drain the fluid to keep my pressure down. I didnt have any problems. When I went back for my check up he asked me how is your vision now I told him it was so good that I could see what he was thinking. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 he had a good laugh after that so if you want a great Doctor visit the Kirk Eye Center you will see the world much clearer I promise. Amazing experience! You only get one set of eyes in life, so based on research and reviews I traveled from Iowa to receive LASIK eye surgery from Kirk Eye Center... and it was absolutely worth it! Kirk Eye Center is equipped with top of the line laser technology and a care team that is exceptionally skilled. I was nervous about the procedure, but the care staff was kind and comforting. They walked me through every detail of the process before and during to ease any worry. They gave me the time I needed to ask questions and I never once felt rushed. I admire Dr. Kirk Kent’s confidence in his craft and genuine concern for his patients’ well being. I had cataract surgery on my right eye October 26th 2021 and then on April 26th 2022 I had surgery on my other eye for cataracts. Both eye surgeries were to correct my long distance vision. And it wound up correcting both visions. I was supposed to have only reading glasses after both surgeries but as a result I no longer need glasses for either. I couldn't be happier Dr Carter Kirk and his family did wonders I highly recommend them. More

I had a cataract in my left eye that was really bothering me. I made an appointment to see Dr. Kent Kirk in late December 2021. I can’t tell you how happy I am with the "entire" experience at Kirk Eye Care. It is now late January 2022 and I have had cataract surgery on both eyes. I am wowed at the difference in my vision. I found this to be a highly professional friendly place for eye Care I had a thorough eye examination including pressure test for glaucoma camera shots of the retina and vision capabilities we're tested as well. The doctor went over the results with me and gave me a complete understanding of my eye health and what I can anticipate in the upcoming years being a senior citizen. I am very pleased with my experience at Kirk Eye Center in River Forest. I went there for treatment of cataracts in both eyes. There are several options available for the new lenses implanted during the cataract removal procedure. I opted for light adjustable lenses. I felt this was the best option for me to have the best possible vision post surgery. My experience with Kirk Eye Center has been very, very positive. The entire staff is very pleasant and professional. Each appointment was on time and each part of the exam was handled very smoothly. The most impressive part of my experience was on the day of my surgery. The surgery staff could not have been nicer. Staff members introduced themselves to me and clearly explained what they were doing. Each staff member was so competent that it I felt very confident that I was in good hands. (I have to admit I was a bit anxious when I arrived). The outcome of the surgery has been very good. I have not yet completed the adjustments to the new lenses but my vision is already so much better. I highly recommend this practice. More

The staff spent well over an hour helping me with these and we finally we're able to get them back still working order and I am able to see out of them perfectly again. I am extremely impressed that the staff took the time and had the patience to work with me. From now on if I need anything Kirk eye center will definitely be my first go to choice. My vision declined drastically last year. At the end of the year, I couldn’t even drive when it became dark. At first, I visited a retinal specialist and went through various exams. At the third visit, he told me that not much can be done to improve my vision. He also sent me to the Chicago Lighthouse to get special eyeglasses for visually impaired. Before I went to the Lighthouse appointment, I decided to get the second opinion from Dr. Carter Kirk. That was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Dr. Carter quickly diagnosed me with cataracts. He performed surgeries on both of my eyes shortly after. My vision improved dramatically after the surgery. They are still both at 20/20 with -3.50 eyeglasses four months after the surgery. I can’t say enough to thank Dr. Carter and the Kirk Eye Center staffs for their professionalism and help! More

I never write reviews, but I'm making an exception here. I had cataract surgery in February, 2018 by Dr. Scott Kirk. Both eyes, about a week apart. Everything went seamlessly. Recovery was a snap. I don't need glasses anymore, the glasses I wore since 4th grade. I was very resistant to having the surgery because, well, they're my eyes. However, when my prescription for my glasses could no longer improve my vision, I did my homework and decided to stay with the Kirk Eye Center. Very glad I did. I've been telling Dr. Scott that I'm a very satisfied customer and I am and that's why I'm writing this. More

I knew that I had to go to the eye doctor, as my eyesight seemed to be getting worse and worse, and that it was quite possibly because of cataracts. Not being able to see up close is in my estimation, somewhat of a relative issue, but driving at night was becoming more difficult. Halos on headlights or any type of street light was soon going to be a limitation. I came to Dr. Kent Kirk because my former eye doctor had retired after many years and my files had been transferred to the Kirk Eye Center. I found Dr. Kent Kirk to be very professional and knowledgeable about the procedures that he would be doing on my eyes. He took me through the procedure step-by-step. I actually decided to have the cataract surgery performed on my left eye, just two days before my birthday. Though I was a bit apprehensive, I found that everything that was done, was exactly what had been outlined. One thing that I had learned prior to the surgery was that cataract surgery was first performed in about 1750 and I really figured that this surgery would go with no issue. Little did I know that the surgery would go way better than I could have imagined. I found that on the way home, I already could see more clearly, whether it was license plates on vehicle around me, street signs, or even brighter interior lights. My left eye was markedly improved. I came back the next day for the post-surgery follow-up and Dr. Kirk was quite pleased with his work, as was I. He did ask when I wanted to do the right eye and I immediately told him - asap! I was able to have the appointment for the right eye surgery, 13 days later. This time the cataract surgery went easily, as well as the first. The big difference was there was very little apprehension on my part. Again, I was amazed at how well my vision had improved on the way home. In fact, I don’t really know if I had ever seen as well as I do now. I had glasses from when I was first in grammar school, but I went away from glasses and in to contacts in about December of 1974. I was working as a rookie policeman and was assigned to a “bank robbery in progress” call. When I entered the bank, my glasses fogged up. Within days, I made the appointment for contacts. From December 1974, I never wore glasses again. Now with the cataract surgery done on both eyes, I find that I do not need glasses for distance, and, amazingly, I will only need reading glasses that are at the lower end of the prescription range and that depends on just how small the letters are. All things considered, this may have been one of the best choices that I have ever made. At my age, I can probably say that my knee replacement was good, but, you know, there is nothing like being able to see clearly. Dr. Kent Kirk and his staff, both at the normal visits and the two surgery visits were fantastic. They exhibited a great deal of professionalism and, I must say that I was quite impressed with just how routine they could make this surgery. If you are unsure, I say - go for it! And Dr. Kent Kirk is the right person for getting the job done right. More

My opinion on lasik surgery at Dr. Kirks Office: 1. Customer service 2. pain 3. recovery & vision... 1. I had lasik surgery at this office and appreciated the medical staff very much. Once you pass the customer service desk the nurse aids and all staff in back are very welcoming and sweet. Made me feel very comfortable compared to a major lasik company I visited months prior and opted out of doing service with. I will say that the front desk team could come across a bit rushed and too busy to really focus on me and truly make me feel "special".... after all I'm forking over a lot of money for lasik right? If you ask me, this is an expensive investment I'm making on my sight so I would expect nothing less then top notch service from the greeters. But they didn't perform the surgery so let's move on. Dr. KIRK was pleasant and well experienced. My first visit with him was short but efficient. I only wish I would have shared more about my eyes so that I could feel like he knew more about my health before surgery. I'm sure he had all he needed with his experience through the exams and all... but I guess just to make me feel more at ease with this ...maybe just a few more questions about my eye history. 2. The pain was excruciating. No one could have EVER prepared me for the pain I felt. Was it the numbing drops? Did they not wait long enough for it to take effect? Was I just not tolerant enough? Were my eyes just too sensisitive from sleeping with contacts over the years? (Something I never shared) am I not good with anesthesia? I had so many questions as to why I felt SO MUCH pain during the surgery process. On my first eye, I felt the cornea lifted up and it burned, but I didn't on the second eye. The pressure on my eyes was unbearable. I was referred here and it was due to several great experiences so I truly don't question the Drs ability and have no negative feedback after my recovery because my results speak for themself ...I CAN SEE!!:) but just the mere fact that I was expecting "a painless" surgery, and maybe just uncomfortable at most is why I give this a 4 star rating. I will say that most people if not all say its painless so now I just question Everyone's honesty on this! The nurses were fantastic during my breakdown..they were holding my hands and really trying to calm me down. Thank you! I truly felt like you cared and I needed it. I just wanted transparency.. My opinion on lasik surgery at Dr. Kirks Office: 1. Customer service 2. pain 3. recovery & vision... 1. I had lasik surgery at this office and appreciated the medical staff very much. Once you pass the customer service desk the nurse aids and all staff in back are very welcoming and sweet. Made me feel very comfortable compared to a major lasik company I visited months prior and opted out of doing service with. I will say that the front desk team could come across a bit rushed and too busy to really focus on me and truly make me feel "special".... after all I'm forking over a lot of money for lasik right? If you ask me, this is an expensive investment I'm making on my sight so I would expect nothing less then top notch service from the greeters. But they didn't perform the surgery so let's move on. Dr. KIRK was pleasant and well experienced. My first visit with him was short but efficient. Over the last few years my vision has gradually worsened. I could not read a street sign from 20 feet away i went to Kirk eye center to see if anything could be done to improve my vision. I was immediately impressed with the professionalism of the staff. After a very thorough it was determined that i should have cataract surgery on both eyes. Dr.Carter Kirk performed surgery on both of my eyes. My vision has improved dramatically . Now i have the ability to see clearly day and night. As a result i do not need glasses at all . Dr. Carter and his excellent gave me my clear vision back, that had been declining for years. I heartily recommend Kirk Eye Center. More

I knew that I had to go to the eye doctor, as my eyesight seemed to be getting worse and worse, and that it was quite possibly because of cataracts. Not being able to see up close is in my estimation, somewhat of a relative issue, but driving at night was becoming more difficult. Halos on headlights or any type of street light was soon going to be a limitation. I came to Dr. Kent Kirk because my former eye doctor had retired after many years and my files had been transferred to the Kirk Eye Center. I found Dr. Kent Kirk to be very professional and knowledgeable about the procedures that he would be doing on my eyes. He took me through the procedure step-by-step. I actually decided to have the cataract surgery performed on my left eye, just two days before my birthday. Though I was a bit apprehensive, I found that everything that was done, was exactly what had been outlined. One thing that I had learned prior to the surgery was that cataract surgery was first performed in about 1750 and I really figured that this surgery would go with no issue. Little did I know that the surgery would go way better than I could have imagined. I found that on the way home, I already could see more clearly, whether it was license plates on vehicle around me, street signs, or even brighter interior lights. My left eye was markedly improved. I came back the next day for the post-surgery follow-up and Dr. Kirk was quite pleased with his work, as was I. He did ask when I wanted to do the right eye and I immediately told him - asap! I was able to have the appointment for the right eye surgery, 13 days later. This time the cataract surgery went easily, as well as the first. The big difference was there was very little apprehension on my part. Again, I was amazed at how well my vision had improved on the way home. In fact, I don’t really know if I had ever seen as well as I do now. I had glasses from when I was first in grammar school, but I went away from glasses and in to contacts in about December of 1974. I was working as a rookie policeman and was assigned to a “bank robbery in progress” call. When I entered the bank, my glasses fogged up. Within days, I made the appointment for contacts. From December 1974, I never wore glasses again. Now with the cataract surgery done on both eyes, I find that I do not need glasses for distance, and, amazingly, I will only need reading glasses that are at the lower end of the prescription range and that depends on just how small the letters are. All things considered, this may have been one of the best choices that I have ever made. At my age, I can probably say that my knee replacement was good, but, you know, there is nothing like being able to see clearly. Dr. Kent Kirk and his staff, both at the normal visits and the two surgery visits were fantastic. Dr Scott Kirk has done both my cataract surgeries. I had been told by a doctor at a different practice that I was not a candidate for multifocal lenses and due to this I would need to wear glasses. Dr Kirk assured me this wasn’t true and after having both cataracts removed and multifocal lenses implanted I have 20/25 vision. No glasses. I couldn’t be happier. More

Dr. Carter Kirk is a lifesaver!!! After seeing six doctors in other practices and being misdiagnosed for over 2 weeks with a viral infection I was sent to Kirk Eye Center to see him. He was the only one who diagnosed me correctly with a very rare bacterial infection. He immediately changed my course of action. He took the time to explain what was going on and what needed to be done. He is gracious, patient, super intelligent and you can tell he does his research. He also recommended that I go and get a confocal scan at Rush hospital. He was able to immediately get me in there and it confirmed his findings. Dr. Carter Kirk was absolutely AMAZING and I don't know what I would have done without him!!! Had it not been for his expert experience and catching this, my outcome could have been very grim. If I could give him 10 stars I would!!!! Not only is he an outstanding doctor but their facilities are beautiful as well. I felt like I was in great hands the whole time! I had an ICL procedure done in October. And oh my gosh! Kirk Eye Center gave me my vision back! I went in for a LASIK consultation and it turned out my eyes weren't a good candidate, but they recommended an ICL instead and now I'll have perfect vision (until cataracts--but that's decades away!). After 22 years in prescription glasses, the only kind I'll need is regular old sunglasses-- a luxury I haven't had since I was 6. From start to finish, the associates at Kirk Eye Center have been polite, professional, and just absolutely FANTASTIC! Words cannot express my gratitude for giving me back my vision! More
I am glad to have chosen Kirk Eye Center to get my Lasik surgery done. From start to finish the experience could not have gone better. I went in for my free consultation where my eyes were thoroughly examined and I was told I was a candidate. Dr. Kent Kirk thoroughly explained the procedure to me and what I could expect afterward as well as the timeline of how my vision would progress. He took the time to answer all of my questions, and I did not feel rushed at all, which I have experienced quite a bit with other doctors and what I gleaned from other people's reviews of some of the "cattle call" Lasik centers in the area. The day of the procedure, I was at the surgery center for less than an hour and a half. I didn't have to wait at all, and the process was streamlined but again, I did not feel rushed. The staff was so nice and seemed genuinely concerned that everything went well. Dr. Kirk explained the process and it went exactly as he said it would go. It was about 30 seconds of total time under the lasers for each eye and the process was nowhere near as uncomfortable as I had imagined. Dr. Kirk gives you his cell phone number to call if you need anything or have any issues. I went home and took a nap, and Dr. Kirk called me that night to make sure everything was okay which is a nice touch. By the next day my vision was restored to a level it hasn't been since I was 20 years old! It has been 4 days and so far so good. Just like you always hear, my only regret is that I didn't do this sooner! Great experience, great staff, great doctor, I highly recommend Kirk Eye Center. More

After 22 years in prescription glasses, the only kind I'll need is regular old sunglasses-- a luxury I haven't had since I was 6. I was referred to Kirk Eye Center by my ophthalmologist. After my initial consultation, it was determined that I needed eye surgery and I was immediately apprehensive...okay I was really, really scared and didn’t know what to expect! The moment I decided to proceed with the surgery, everyone at the River Forest office was simply spectacular! From the wonderful ladies at the front desk, to Joyce the Refractive Manager, the wonderful caring staff preparing me for pre-surgery and finally Dr. Scott Kirk, my positive experience far exceeded my fears! I can’t say or write enough about what a wonderful job the staff did to put me at ease from beginning to end! That was 3 weeks ago and now I’m scheduling my second surgery this week and I am looking forward to having the vision I had when I was in my 20’s! I am glad to have chosen Kirk Eye Center to get my Lasik surgery done. From start to finish the experience could not have gone better. I went in for my free consultation where my eyes were thoroughly examined and I was told I was a candidate. Dr. Kent Kirk thoroughly explained the procedure to me and what I could expect afterward as well as the timeline of how my vision would progress. He took the time to answer all of my questions, and I did not feel rushed at all, which I have experienced quite a bit with other doctors and what I gleaned from other people's reviews of some of the "cattle call" Lasik centers in the area. The day of the procedure, I was at the surgery center for less than an hour and a half. I didn't have to wait at all, and the process was streamlined but again, I did not feel rushed. The staff was so nice and seemed genuinely concerned that everything went well. Dr. Kirk explained the process and it went exactly as he said it would go. It was about 30 seconds of total time under the lasers for each eye and the process was nowhere near as uncomfortable as I had imagined. Dr. Kirk gives you his cell phone number to call if you need anything or have any issues. I went home and took a nap, and Dr. Kirk called me that night to make sure everything was okay which is a nice touch. By the next day my vision was restored to a level it hasn't been since I was 20 years old! It has been 4 days and so far so good. I am so excited with the result of my Lasik operation at Kirk Eye Center. Since I am so pleased with how the operation went and the result. Here is the overall experience of my procedure. 1. Free consultation / follow up questions I had a Mini-Monovision or Laser Blended Vision as you will find on the internet. Yes, I was scared of having each eye with different visions. Dr. Kent Kirk along with Ms. Joyce Walter covered all questions and concerns I had prior to the operation. 2. Pre-op preparation Usual blood pressure check, eye drops, choice to take sedative pill…I wouldn’t go without it. Nurses were professional and courteous, Dr. Kent also took time to answer additional questions. 3. Creating cornea flap operation Kirk utilize laser cutting method, this is safer than manual cutting method, which I liked. Only thing is that it is a bit awkward, since you will feel heavy pressure and lose sight on that eye temporary. All I did was just focus on center light and being steady as much as possible as Dr. Kent encouraged me to do so by saying “Doing great, perfect and etc etc” for less than 30 seconds each eyes. 4. Lasik operation Allegretto WAVE Eye-Q Excimer Laser System. This machine automatically trace your natural eye movements to eliminate miss firing of laser and it stops, if you move your eye out of the machine’s tolerance. All I did was to keep my eye steadily on green flickering light as Dr. Kent also encouraged me to do. During the procedure, green light do move around and the light become fuzzy. What I did is to chase the green light as much as possible and also try to focus on the center of the fuzzy green light. No worries, I did have a few moments I could not locate the green light, if then, I just focused my eye on where the green light was until see it again. 5. Recovery, day of the operation You will feel sedated from sedative and you will not be able to open your eyes well enough to see. So, when I got home, I immediately wore protective goggles and went to sleep for 3~4 hours, this is easy since you feel sedated. Your eyes will be extra sensitive, so make sure room is pitch black. Don’t worry about eye drops, just sleep it away. I woke up with decent eye sight, enough to function around the house, I still kept wearing sunglasses around the house in dark setting with no TV nor electric devices to soften my eyes hoping for faster healing. 6. Follow up appointment and 1st day I found my eyes already recovered enough to drive. Feeling is very similar to after swam in a pool full of chlorine... Dr. Kent confirmed my combined vision is 20/20, then Dr. tap on my elbow and said “you god 20/20 vision!”…My eyes were still fuzz, so I was still a bit skeptic... I drove to work after the appointment and followed recommended eye drop routines, I even used more tear eye drop (every 30 min) as I found that eyes need moisture to heal. My eyes did not show improvements throughout the day, but they were good enough for me to drive home at night in rain. No depth perception nor weird feeling issue due to Mini-monovision… 8. 2nd day after the surgery I woke up with almost 90% of the fuzziness gone…I found myself totally amazed/shocked by the clarity of my vision… There is a tree in front of our balcony which is about 30 feet away 3 story height. I can even see crease and dark spot on a leaf almost to the top of the tree 30 feet away. If this is the result from Mini-Monovision / Laser Blended Vision (one for nearsighted, another for farsighted correction). I am now a true believer and I am sure my eyes were never this good in my life…what an amazing result this is…I drove to work still wearing sunglasses and tear eye drop every 30 min as thinking of the last 10% clarity… I am still a bit light sensitiveness, but I am so sure it will subside as it progress, I cannot even wait for next few days of improvements to come… More

I cannot express in words how they changes my life for the better but I will do my best. I went there after having issues with my eyes no longer tolerating me wearing contacts. This was a major issues because my vision was so bad that with glasses I was around 40/20 in one eye and 50/20 in the other. This made it hard to drive at night and even dealing with everyday tasks. Contact improved that to about 30/20 and 40/20. I have always been very near sighted so much that most doctors had only seen a couple patients worse then me. I decided contact implants was the only option I had. Since I maxed out the power of the contact implants I also would need lasik too! It was a long process with many surgeries. I found through the process the Dr Kent Kirk would not settle for good he was determined to make sure everything was done to be the best for me. After it was all done I am seeing at 25/20 better then I have ever have before. No glasses, no contacts, no fear of not seeing ever again! The nursing staff treated me like family and I still visit them when doing follow ups. I would not trust my eyes, my families and friends eyes to anyone else. It was not a easy or cheap road but I am so thankful I did it! Priceless and life changing. I was the blind man they made see. They truly treat you like family and care so much! More
I had a very pleasant experience at the Kirk Eye Center. I had LASIK to correct very poor vision in both eyes and an astigmatism. Dr. Kirk was professional and did not push me into the surgery before he thought I was ready and a viable candidate. As a diabetic, there were further concerns/considerations with the procedure that Dr. Kirk was very aware of. I saw him over the course of a year before he decided it was the right time to do the surgery. Over that year, the office staff regularly checked in with me. My recovery from the surgery was easy and painless. Definitely recommend visiting the Kirk Eye Center if you are considering LASIK! More

I recently had LASIK Surgery at Kirk Eye Center in River Forest. I was incredibly happy with the experience during the entire process. From the initial exams to the actual surgery to the follow up appointment, the entire staff was very professional, helpful and caring. The LASIK surgery itself was very quick. I felt very well prepped Dr. Kirk and the staff. The first couple hours post surgery were uncomfortable, which was expected, but after that it was pain free. A few hours after surgery I received a personal call from Dr. Kirk following up to see how I was doing....which meant a lot. The next day my vision was great and has been since I had the surgery. Hello, I am going to share my whole experience from start to finish on my LASIK journey with Kirk Eye Center. (To get the overall review if you don’t care to read the whole story, skip to last paragraph) I found them online and read some reviews and saw they had FREE LASIK consultations, so I decided to enter in my information and see where that takes me. A few days later I received an email about a setting up an appointment for the consultation. I got quick email replies which was nice and set up my appointment. A week later it was time for my appointment, I get in and got checked in quickly! They brought me in the back and began by asking questions on my health background. Then they proceeded to check my eye sight. After that they put in some numbing drops and used a pen to check my eye pressure. The numbing drops worked amazing but it did feel very weird, normal though. After that I was seated back in the waiting room for about 10 minutes. I was then ask to come into another room where they did a scan of my eyes, this was very cool and interesting to me. After that I was put into a room to wait to see the Dr. I only waited about 5 minutes until he came in. He checked my eyes and went over all of my information to discuss if I was a good candidate for LASIK or not which I was. I did have a dry spot on my eye which he figured was just temporary and gave me a few eyedrops and if I did go ahead with the procedure he wanted to have me come back in to check to see if it had cleared up. After that I was placed back into the waiting room until I think her name was Joyce came and brought me back to talk about the numbers part. She was very helpful and answered all of my questions and didn’t pressure me into anything and I went on my way for the day with my information. I decided to go ahead and do the procedure so I emailed them and filled out my paperwork and got a date. My date was only a week away which was crazy fast and I had a lot of mixed feeling at this point since I was honestly nervous. I got back in to get my eye checked before hand and everything went well with that. Surgery day I got there, they took me back and took vitals and explained what was going to happen and gave me something to help relax me since I was basically having a panic attack at this point. The procedure was extremely fast. I would say I was only a total of maybe 2 min of being worked on, minus the prep time and such, but that wasn’t a big deal. After I was done my eyes were very sensitive and tired so someone read me my after care instructions. I then was ready to go. I was only there for about 1 hour to an hour and 15. I got home and I attempted to nap like I was recommended. I laid down but my eyes started to spasm intensely and I tossed and turned for about 45 minutes in extreme pain just trying to get the spasming to stop. I could barely open my eyes at this point and got ahold of the Dr. he instructed me on what to do and within about 15 min they stopped spasming and I was able to rest a few hours with my eyes closed. Later that night I was watching TV and had basically perfect vision minus the slight blurriness. My next day checkup went as smoothly and my consultation. At this point I had 20/20 vision and my eyes felt great, no pain or anything. It is a week later as I am writing this and I have done all my eyedrops and aftercare as I was instructed and I haven’t had any problems. If you stuck it out through this experience, I would definitely say if you are considering getting LASIK, do it with Kirk Eye Center. They have gone above and beyond my expectations! I even went back and purchased a nice pair of sunglasses with their great optical team to protect my new eyes. More

I just had cataract surgery. I highly recommend Kirk Eye Center! I cant praise Kirk Eye Center in Gurnee and NovaMed Center in River Forest enough!. Both are professional and do an amazing job at keeping you informed and relaxed regarding the procedure. They have the process down to a choreographed science.Every dept. and every person is professional, can answer any question, they take their time with you, but they don't waste it either. Lasik operation Allegretto WAVE Eye-Q Excimer Laser System. This machine automatically trace your natural eye movements to eliminate miss firing of laser and it stops, if you move your eye out of the machine’s tolerance. All I did was to keep my eye steadily on green flickering light as Dr. Kent also encouraged me to do. During the procedure, green light do move around and the light become fuzzy. What I did is to chase the green light as much as possible and also try to focus on the center of the fuzzy green light. No worries, I did have a few moments I could not locate the green light, if then, I just focused my eye on where the green light was until see it again. 5. Recovery, day of the operation You will feel sedated from sedative and you will not be able to open your eyes well enough to see. So, when I got home, I immediately wore protective goggles and went to sleep for 3~4 hours, this is easy since you feel sedated. Your eyes will be extra sensitive, so make sure room is pitch black. Don’t worry about eye drops, just sleep it away. I woke up with decent eye sight, enough to function around the house, I still kept wearing sunglasses around the house in dark setting with no TV nor electric devices to soften my eyes hoping for faster healing. 6. Follow up appointment and 1st day I found my eyes already recovered enough to drive. Feeling is very similar to after swam in a pool full of chlorine... Dr. Kent confirmed my combined vision is 20/20, then Dr. tap on my elbow and said “you god 20/20 vision!”…My eyes were still fuzz, so I was still a bit skeptic... I drove to work after the appointment and followed recommended eye drop routines, I even used more tear eye drop (every 30 min) as I found that eyes need moisture to heal. My eyes did not show improvements throughout the day, but they were good enough for me to drive home at night in rain. No depth perception nor weird feeling issue due to Mini-monovision… 8. 2nd day after the surgery I woke up with almost 90% of the fuzziness gone…I found myself totally amazed/shocked by the clarity of my vision… There is a tree in front of our balcony which is about 30 feet away 3 story height. I can even see crease and dark spot on a leaf almost to the top of the tree 30 feet away. If this is the result from Mini-Monovision / Laser Blended Vision (one for nearsighted, another for farsighted correction). I am now a true believer and I am sure my eyes were never this good in my life…what an amazing result this is…I drove to work still wearing sunglasses and tear eye drop every 30 min as thinking of the last 10% clarity… I am still a bit light sensitiveness, but I am so sure it will subside as it progress, I cannot even wait for next few days of improvements to come… More

Hello, I am going to share my whole experience from start to finish on my LASIK journey with Kirk Eye Center. (To get the overall review if you don’t care to read the whole story, skip to last paragraph) I found them online and read some reviews and saw they had FREE LASIK consultations, so I decided to enter in my information and see where that takes me. A few days later I received an email about a setting up an appointment for the consultation. I got quick email replies which was nice and set up my appointment. A week later it was time for my appointment, I get in and got checked in quickly! They brought me in the back and began by asking questions on my health background. Then they proceeded to check my eye sight. After that they put in some numbing drops and used a pen to check my eye pressure. The numbing drops worked amazing but it did feel very weird, normal though. After that I was seated back in the waiting room for about 10 minutes. I was then ask to come into another room where they did a scan of my eyes, this was very cool and interesting to me. After that I was put into a room to wait to see the Dr. I only waited about 5 minutes until he came in. He checked my eyes and went over all of my information to discuss if I was a good candidate for LASIK or not which I was. I did have a dry spot on my eye which he figured was just temporary and gave me a few eyedrops and if I did go ahead with the procedure he wanted to have me come back in to check to see if it had cleared up. After that I was placed back into the waiting room until I think her name was Joyce came and brought me back to talk about the numbers part. She was very helpful and answered all of my questions and didn’t pressure me into anything and I went on my way for the day with my information. I decided to go ahead and do the procedure so I emailed them and filled out my paperwork and got a date. My date was only a week away which was crazy fast and I had a lot of mixed feeling at this point since I was honestly nervous. I got back in to get my eye checked before hand and everything went well with that. Surgery day I got there, they took me back and took vitals and explained what was going to happen and gave me something to help relax me since I was basically having a panic attack at this point. The procedure was extremely fast. I would say I was only a total of maybe 2 min of being worked on, minus the prep time and such, but that wasn’t a big deal. After I was done my eyes were very sensitive and tired so someone read me my after care instructions. I then was ready to go. I was only there for about 1 hour to an hour and 15. I got home and I attempted to nap like I was recommended. I laid down but my eyes started to spasm intensely and I tossed and turned for about 45 minutes in extreme pain just trying to get the spasming to stop. I could barely open my eyes at this point and got ahold of the Dr. he instructed me on what to do and within about 15 min they stopped spasming and I was able to rest a few hours with my eyes closed. Later that night I was watching TV and had basically perfect vision minus the slight blurriness. My next day checkup went as smoothly and my consultation. At this point I had 20/20 vision and my eyes felt great, no pain or anything. It is a week later as I am writing this and I have done all my eyedrops and aftercare as I was instructed and I haven’t had any problems. If you stuck it out through this experience, I would definitely say if you are considering getting LASIK, do it with Kirk Eye Center. They have gone above and beyond my expectations! I even went back and purchased a nice pair of sunglasses with their great optical team to protect my new eyes. More
I recently had LASIK Surgery at Kirk Eye Center in River Forest. I was incredibly happy with the experience during the entire process. From the initial exams to the actual surgery to the follow up appointment, the entire staff was very professional, helpful and caring. The LASIK surgery itself was very quick. I felt very well prepped Dr. Kirk and the staff. The first couple hours post surgery were uncomfortable, which was expected, but after that it was pain free. A few hours after surgery I received a personal call from Dr. Kirk following up to see how I was doing....which meant a lot. The next day my vision was great and has been since I had the surgery. I would highly recommend Kirk Eye Center if you are thinking about LASIK Surgery. More

I had LASIK at Kirk Eye Center last week and couldn't have had a better experience. Dr. Kent Kirk was awesome and I felt like he really cared about my eye health. I had previously gone for a consultation at LasikPlus and felt a little uneasy there. It felt like they were trying to get me scheduled for the procedure as fast as possible and spent more time talking about payment than looking at my eyes. I made the appointment at Kirk just to see if it was any different. Dr. Kirk had some concerns about a few things, scheduled me for some extra tests, and I felt so much more taken care of there. It felt like he actually cared about my long term wellness vs just wanting to schedule me for an expensive procedure and get me out the door. Everyone at Kirk was professional, accommodating, and friendly. The LASIK itself was so incredibly fast and painless that I could hardly believe it. Dr. Kirk and the nurses there all prepared me really well for the whole procedure and what would happen after. I'm normally very nervous for medical procedures, but I found the LASIK to be no big deal. It was certainly uncomfortable in the few hours following, but I knew it was normal and got through it with no problems. The next day, I was seeing 20/20 and I have had zero issues in the week since. I keep thinking that I'll try to take my contacts out before I go to sleep because my vision is so good. I would highly recommend going to Kirk to anyone who has been thinking about LASIK. When I originally came to Kirk Eye Center I had no vision in my right eye. I had visited a a center in the Southeast surburb of Chicago and was told that I had vitreous hemorrhaging on the back of my retina. I was instructed to sleep at a forty five degree angle and it would dissipate. After coming back for three weeks with no success, I was sent to a Retinal Surgeon.The retinal surgeon also told me to sleep at a forty five degree angle and it would dissipate in a few days. After I returned in a week the surgeon told me that he would have to do surgery on my retina.He explained to me that he was on the staff at the University of Chicago and that I should get on his list to have the surgery as soon as possible. At this time I told him that I wanted to get a second opinion.He seemed unhappy that I would do that. I was told by a friend that I should go to Kirk Eye Center in River Forest. When I made an appointment at KEC, I spoke with the nurses there and went in to see DR. Scott Kirk. After being examined by Dr Scott who stated that he did not see what the first Opthamologist and Surgeon were talking about.He then brought in Dr. Kent Kirk and the head surgical assistant.They together determined that it was a stage four cataract. Dr Scott then summoned the resident Retinal Surgeon.After the Retinal Surgeon , Dr. Blake Horio looked, he turned the light off, dropped his head and sadly said that " some one was trying to make some money and if they are doing this to you they are doing it to others".Dr Horio then stated that I should come to his office in Hinsdale and he wanted to do a B- Scan.He also stated that it looked like a stage four cataract. I was given an appointment to see Dr.Horio three hours later. Upon arriving at his office and having a B Scan he showed me a rectangular card with two large black circles in the center that were surrounded by what looked like the milky way.He said that if there had been any hemorraging those star like objects would be in the black circles. He then told me to go back to KEC and have Dr. Scott and Lovie (surgical assistant) remove the cataract and I WOULD BE ABLE TO SEE. After making an appointment I went in a week later. On the day of the surger I was greeted by the friendly staff that assured me that everything would be okay. After what seemed to be about fifteen minutes Dr. Scott Kirk asked me how many fingers did I see. I was able to respond correctly right away. After my first post operation visit my vision was 20/25.When I went back two weeks later my vision was 20/20 and i was very happy As a result of this experience I would highly recommend the Kirk Eye Center. I went back a year later and had the left eye cataract removed and all went well.I have gone back for exams and I am grateful for my vision and the professionalism at the Kirk Eye Center. I had a wonderful experience at the River Forest Kirk Eye Center. I had the ICL procedure done and was very nervous going into the surgery center being what the procedure entails. The nurses were very comforting seeing that I was nervous and the doctor was very professional. I was informed of every occurrence and how I should be feeling which put me at ease. This experience was positive from the moment of first contact. Joyce Wolter, who scheduled surgeries was prompt at replying to my initial query. Then the evaluation was thorough (and free). Dr. Kent Kirk explained my three options, answered questions, and I never felt I was being persuaded to have LASIK surgery. I mulled over it for a week, communicating frequently with Joyce about additional questions I had. Then I had the surgery and could not be more pleased! Dr. Kirk explained the procedure before and during, and a nurse held my hand while it was happening! It was quick and painless, and recovery is too. I have 20/20 distance vision for the first time in my life! The follow up visit was quick but thorough. I just had cataract surgery. I highly recommend Kirk Eye Center! I cant praise Kirk Eye Center in Gurnee and NovaMed Center in River Forest enough!. Both are professional and do an amazing job at keeping you informed and relaxed regarding the procedure. They have the process down to a choreographed science.Every dept. and every person is professional, can answer any question, they take their time with you, but they don't waste it either. Dr. Scott Kirk is wonderful as well as Michelle in the Gurnee office. If you have been told you need cataract surgery took up Dr. Scott Kirk in Gurnee and River Forest- you wont be sorry. The day after my surgery my vision was 20-25 in my left eye- everything was bright and clear. I had Lasik on 10/18 and while my eyes are still adjusting, I had a really great experience that I don't know why I was nervous to begin with. During my consultation, my options were explained to me, I was explained how the surgery would go and my financing and post surgery care instructions. The day of the surgery, all my questions were answered, everyone was very kind to me, and I felt very calm. During the surgery, the Doctor was explaining everything to me and was being super encouraging with his words and letting me know everything was going great (which was incredibly reassuring). I could not have asked for a better experience and I would highly recommend Kirk to those seeking out Lasik. More

I was extremely nervous about having cataract surgery. The staff at Kirk made the entire process...from initial exam, through the actual procedure, to the follow up exams a very positive experience. All appointments were completed on time. Every staff member I encountered was very professional and made sure that all of my questions were answered. Drs. I had a wonderful experience at the River Forest Kirk Eye Center. I had the ICL procedure done and was very nervous going into the surgery center being what the procedure entails. The nurses were very comforting seeing that I was nervous and the doctor was very professional. I was informed of every occurrence and how I should be feeling which put me at ease. I had Lasik surgery on 10/18 and while I am still adjusting, I could not have had a better experience. My consultation was very detailed and I felt confident that all the options explained to me was what was best for my eyes. I really trusted Kirk from the beginning. They took the time to show me how the procedure would go, gave me a packet of information, and explained the financing and post-op instructions. I was very nervous for the weeks leading up to it, but everyone the day of made me feel very confident about the whole thing. Everyone was so kind and took the time to answer my questions. I had Lasik last week, and I’m so happy. Dr. Kirk was awesome. Friendly, explained everything to me. The procedure was so quick. I was in the office for only about an hour. I had soreness in my eyes that day, but it was gone by the next day and now I can see!!!! So glad I finally did it! More

Dr. Kent Kirk performed cataract surgery in both of my eyes within the past 6 weeks. My eyes were so bad before that I don't think my prescription could have gotten much stronger. Now, after the surgeries, I have 20/20 vision! It is a miracle! I can see everything without my glasses for the first time in my entire life! The surgery was very fast and easy. I never had any pain of any kind. I was driving by the day following surgery, and a week later it's like it never happened - except that I can see! I did get something in my eye a couple hours after my surgery and when I went back to the office they were closed. Dr. Tyler Kirk was still in the surgery center and he came over and cleaned my eye and got whatever it was out. That was very much appreciated. This is a place where everyone cares. From Trevor who schedules your surgery and takes care to listen to your needs, to Dr. Kirk who is tremendously skilled at what he does, to all the wonderful nurses in the surgery center who make sure you are comfortable every minute you're there (they gave me extra blankets and a mint chocolate to eat!), they are all so very nice! My son and I experienced the most wonderful customer service that one could ever imagine last Thursday night, which was the night before the 4th of July. I called Dr. Scott Kirk at home at 12:30 at night, when my teenage son had something painful and invisible in his eye(still, after flushing and showering). First of all, I was so grateful that he answered the phone after midnight. I explained the situation, that we had been in his eye center one time, and he proceeded to talk me through how to try to get the fragment out. Much patience, we performed the procedure, but no luck. He had us drive to his house, so he could help us, now @ 1am. He worked on my son at his home, but needed some equipment, so we all went to his office at 1:30am. My son's eye was numbed at the office, so we weren't sure if the fragment was out or not; Dr. Kirk offered to be available to us the next day, which was the 4th of July. My son was better the next morning, so no need. Dr. Kirk was humble and gracious, and never made us feel that we were intruding on him (which we were!). We were blown away by his professionalism, courtesy, and generosity with his time. Great result (we could have been in an emergency room all night, with no eye specialist). THANK YOU. More
I have been wearing glasses/contacts since 2nd grade, and decided that my 30th birthday present to myself would be LASIK surgery. As a physician, my eyes are extremely important to my future ability to work, so I wanted the best care I could find. After talking with several local residents who have received LASIK, it seemed evident that Kirk Eye Center provided the best care in the area. With something as important as my vision, I wanted to be in the best hands.My experience did not disappoint. My initial appointment to determine if I was to be a good candidate for LASIK surgery was handled extremely professionally, and the explanation that Dr. Kent Kirk provided me with how the surgery worked, side effects, and what to expect afterwards was superb. I was able to schedule my surgery at the NovaMed surgery center three months later (he performs the surgery once a month). Katie, the surgery coordinator, was extremely helpful and cooperative in setting up all the details.The day of the surgery, I felt well cared for by the surgery staff and coordinators. Dr. Kirk again explained what he would be doing, what to expect, and how long everything would take. The whole procedure took less than an hour, I went home to take a 4 hour nap (thank you, valium) with some mild burning relieved by an anti-inflammatory eye drop, and besides some increased tear production initially, today have better than 20/20 vision. I could not be happier. Dr. Kirk even called that evening to personally check in to see how things were going.Again, I am a fairly new physician who interacts with many patients every day. It can sometimes get busy which can manifest itself in staff becoming agitated. However, as busy as Dr. Kirk must be, the care and professionalism demonstrated by him and his staff was textbook. When it comes to your eyes, do yourself and a favor and go with the Kirk Eye Center. You won’t regret it. More

I recently went in to see if I could get Lasik. I had perfect vision growing up and with age, I noticed my vision getting worse (Presbyopia). First cheaters in my 40s and then monovision and then bifocal contacts and glasses. Then I node my general vision was also declining. At age 58, this was not how I wanted to continue.After an extensive exam, Dr. Kirk advised me that I wasn’t a "good candidate for Lasik" as he noted an early onset of cataracts. It was not immediately noticeable and there was no cloudiness. Dr. Kirk told me the first clue, which resulted in a much more detailed exam was that my prescription changed a full 2 diopters in one year and that was a sign of possible cataracts. A less detailed exam might not have picked this up until they were more developed. My vision would only continue to get worse and undo the good of the Laisik. While the cataracts would not become an issue for perhaps 15 years, I would need to stay in glasses or contacts and have worsening vision each year. The proposed long-term solution would be to have cataract surgery and then have bifocal lenses implanted. Considered elective surgery, it was costlier than Lasik, but it was a "lifetime" solution, meaning my vision would never worsen after the surgery.After independent research, I agreed and have had both eyes repaired. I had the "Restore" IOLs implanted. Their staff are all very helpful and I had all of my concerns addressed. They did not make promises of perfect vision, only that I would see an great improvement. This type of procedure also meant I would never develop cataracts.The eyes were done one at a time, two weeks apart. The procedures were totally pain free. I did decline any sedation, as I wanted to fully understand what was happening. There was no need for it. The doctors (Scott for the first and Kent for the second) both made sure I understood everything that was going on. The follow up care was excellent.The best way to describe the results are miraculous! I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes and am totally free of any additional eyewear (including cheaters). I also noticed that I no longer saw "floaters" which I had begun to see over the past year. I have crystal clear vision and good not be happier. More

Additionally Dr. Scott Kirk performed cataract surgery on me about four months previously with a good outcome. I went to Kirk Eye Center for a simple eye checkup and new glasses. I had been there fifteen years prior for a one time visit and they still had me in their system.Setting up an appointment was easy, after I arrived, I gave my insurance information to the receptionist, and a few minutes later I was in an exam room. Where they dilated my eyes.I saw DR Kirk in another room after a while. I found him very warm and personable, yet professional.It was not long before I was in the front looking for new frames. The staff there was very knowledgeable and helpful they were able to order the new frames I had just picked out. After a couple of weeks (Christmas and New Years were in between that time, otherwise I would have had them sooner) I was able to pick up my new glasses. Again finding the staff professional and helpful.All in all I would highly recommend Kirk Eye Center, they are a five star facility! More
Kirk eye is a 5 star facility. My husband suffered an eye injury (climbing a tree ...he is 53 by the way) Dr kirk saw him at 6 am, treated him,was un-rushed,comfortable,professional. I had lens replacement done at Kirk Eye Center. It was amazing and I am so very glad I had it done and done by Kent Kirk. Dr. Kirk went over everything with me in detail, he was never pushy only gave me information, answered all of my questions and then let me decide. When I went in for the procedure everyone was very nice. They explained everything they were doing and answered all my questions. This did a lot to calm me. Before knew it the procedure was over and I could already see better than when I first went in. It was wonderful! I had the multi-focal lens replacement which means I don’t even need to wear readers! I have been delighted with the out come ever since. Kirk Eye Center has been our family’s eye place for many years, besides the yearly exams they also did my son’s laser eye surgery and I can’t even tell you how wonderful that was. First of all, this place was extraordinary in terms of almost everything, this is a top-notch place that always tries to help. But I should start by saying that our appointment was canceled twice before I had it, though that was probably cause of the timing (holidays). The staff were good and helpful, and the premises was very clean and professional. You could tell the equipment was top-notch. When Dr. Kent Kirk came in, you could tell that he was a good doctor. He answered many of my questions very well and helped us through the whole experience. I was happy to hear of all the services he offers, including the contacts specialists. The glasses store was the best! Although quite small, the store had LOTS of fashionable glasses and sunglasses at all price ranges. The girl who helped me get new glasses was VERY experienced and new what she was doing. She helped me find 2 perfect pairs, both which she chose. More
I saw the one star review and feel I need to do what I can to wipe out what that one unfortunate phone call is doing to the Kirk Eye Center's rating. Eight years ago I had my "legally blind" classified vision repaired with the help of Dr. Kirk and his lasik surgery. The surgery was quick and the Valium they give you before is helpful in calming your nerves. We're talking about your eyes here, lasers on your eyes. You're awake and you can smell the burning. So yea...take the Valium. As soon as you're done you sit up and can see. It's absofuckinglutely amazing. You pick up some pain meds at the pharmacy on the way home and then sleep with goggles on until the eyes heal themselves beyond the pain. I, though, woke up only a few hours after my surgery in unbearable pain. I found my husband and had him call Dr. Kirk on his cell phone. It was 11:00 PM., he would have to pick up the medication from his office and meet us. I lived in Roger's Park then, the Doctor was at a fund raiser in Hyde Park, my magic eye drops were in Forest Park. We met on Columbus Drive. Dr. Kirk was in his tuxedo and asked to have the pleasure of administering my drops; they worked immediately. "My hero," I said. My husband sighed a big sigh and then off went my knight in his BMW back to his fundraiser. He called the next day to see how I was doing even before I came in for my appointment. This kind of care and attention is why I highly recommend the place. The Center is named for this man and his brother, it is their care and skill that I'm rating. More

I am typically not the type of person who posts a review, but I have been a patient at Kirk Eye Center for the past 25 years and I cannot emphasize enough how amazing this practice is at helping people achieve wonderful vision! The doctors at Kirk Eye Center have guided me towards perfect eyesight from the time I wore glasses, followed by contact lenses for many years, and most recently the Lasik vision corrective surgery. Each doctor is extremely knowledgeable, polite, and caring. The staff at Kirk Eye Center is warm and friendly, and my entire experience has been nothing but positive. I read the reviews on the internet and selected Kirk Eye Center and what a great decision that was. My vision was getting cloudy and I decided it was time to get my eyes checked. I needed cataract surgery and Dr Kent Kirk performed that for me yesterday. The procedure took about 15 minutes and there was no pain during the entire procedure. I had zero side effects: no inflammation, no infection, no swelling, no bleeding, no glaucoma or retinal problems. As I write today online, I can read the computer screen better now than with my glasses. At my followup visit today Dr Kent Kirk told me that everything was so successful that I could start driving again. No restrictions. I couldn't be more pleased. Dr Kent Kirk is the "Michael Jordan" of ophthalmologists. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! More

I had a cataract removed on March 5, 2020 and I cannot say enough about the people who handled my initial exam and those who work at the surgery location in River Forest. I arrived and was taken into the surgery prep area immediately. Everyone explained in detail what they were doing so I felt very much at ease. The surgery was quick and absolutely pain free. I wish I could rate this 10 stars. Kirk Eye Center has been nothing but wonderful to me and words cannot explain how blessed I feel to have had Dr. Kent Kirk as my eye surgeon. I had ICL Surgery performed on both eyes last Wednesday and dealt with some pressure issues that being an out-of-state patient could have been pretty dangerous. Dr. Kirk didn’t miss a beat and went out of his way to make sure myself, my mom and my aunt were well taken care of for an unplanned stay in River Forest. I was very concerned and frankly, scared, but Dr. Kirk has done nothing but work to calm my worry and I’m happy to say that a week and a half post-op my eyes are healing great! I would refer every member of my family and anyone that will listen to Dr. Kirk and Kirk Eye Center. Hello, I am going to share my whole experience from start to finish on my LASIK journey with Kirk Eye Center. (To get the overall review if you don’t care to read the whole story, skip to last paragraph) I found them online and read some reviews and saw they had FREE LASIK consultations, so I decided to enter in my information and see where that takes me. A few days later I received an email about a setting up an appointment for the consultation. I got quick email replies which was nice and set up my appointment. A week later it was time for my appointment, I get in and got checked in quickly! They brought me in the back and began by asking questions on my health background. Then they proceeded to check my eye sight. After that they put in some numbing drops and used a pen to check my eye pressure. The numbing drops worked amazing but it did feel very weird, normal though. After that I was seated back in the waiting room for about 10 minutes. I was then ask to come into another room where they did a scan of my eyes, this was very cool and interesting to me. After that I was put into a room to wait to see the Dr. I only waited about 5 minutes until he came in. He checked my eyes and went over all of my information to discuss if I was a good candidate for LASIK or not which I was. I did have a dry spot on my eye which he figured was just temporary and gave me a few eyedrops and if I did go ahead with the procedure he wanted to have me come back in to check to see if it had cleared up. After that I was placed back into the waiting room until I think her name was Joyce came and brought me back to talk about the numbers part. She was very helpful and answered all of my questions and didn’t pressure me into anything and I went on my way for the day with my information. I decided to go ahead and do the procedure so I emailed them and filled out my paperwork and got a date. My date was only a week away which was crazy fast and I had a lot of mixed feeling at this point since I was honestly nervous. I got back in to get my eye checked before hand and everything went well with that. Surgery day I got there, they took me back and took vitals and explained what was going to happen and gave me something to help relax me since I was basically having a panic attack at this point. The procedure was extremely fast. I would say I was only a total of maybe 2 min of being worked on, minus the prep time and such, but that wasn’t a big deal. After I was done my eyes were very sensitive and tired so someone read me my after care instructions. I then was ready to go. I was only there for about 1 hour to an hour and 15. I got home and I attempted to nap like I was recommended. I laid down but my eyes started to spasm intensely and I tossed and turned for about 45 minutes in extreme pain just trying to get the spasming to stop. I could barely open my eyes at this point and got ahold of the Dr. he instructed me on what to do and within about 15 min they stopped spasming and I was able to rest a few hours with my eyes closed. Later that night I was watching TV and had basically perfect vision minus the slight blurriness. My next day checkup went as smoothly and my consultation. At this point I had 20/20 vision and my eyes felt great, no pain or anything. It is a week later as I am writing this and I have done all my eyedrops and aftercare as I was instructed and I haven’t had any problems. If you stuck it out through this experience, I would definitely say if you are considering getting LASIK, do it with Kirk Eye Center. They have gone above and beyond my expectations! I even went back and purchased a nice pair of sunglasses with their great optical team to protect my new eyes. More
I had cataract surgery using multifocal lenses in both eyes. I can see without glasses for the first time in 20 years! Joyce facilitated setting up the surgery and let me know the cost up front so there were no surprises on the day of surgery. The nurses and nurse anesthetist listened to my concerns and helped me feel comfortable and at ease prior to the procedure. I had very little discomfort after the surgery. The follow up appointments were easy to make and reassured me that all was well with my recovery. I am one month out and am totally pleased with my outcome! I would highly recommend Kirk Eye Center! I had cataract surgery over a year ago, and I hesitated to write a review until I knew if there would be any future complications. And there were none! Cataract surgery was one of the best gifts I’ve ever given myself. For years I’ve struggled with reading glasses, and at age 73 my vision became more and more blurred, and everything just looked a bit foggier and gloomier. I assumed it was my age, but made an appointment with Dr. Kent Kirk to be on the safe side. He was very kind and easy to talk to, and after being tested, I was told I had cataracts, and he recommended the surgery. He also said I was a good candidate to have my vision corrected as well, although Medicare would only insure the basic surgery. I have a very tight budget in retirement, so it was not an easy decision. But I took the chance, put it on a credit card, and hoped for the best. I was very impressed with the expedient and systematic way in which the whole procedure was handled. There was no waiting around - when I came in, they were ready for me. There was no pain, no discomfort, and I was ready to go home in less than a half hour. On that very first day, I was amazed that I could see clearly, without glasses, and instead of the usual off-color cast over my entire environment, I saw more whites, more blues, less grays and browns. The recovery period lasted only a few days, and that too was painless - just a routine of eye drops for a period of time. I am now in my mid 70’s, and when I visit my 45 and 50 year old children, they’re reaching for their reading glasses every few minutes, and their mom has perfect vision! Nothing has deteriorated since then, and I would highly recommend this outstanding eye clinic. And I haven’t regretted for a moment my having to use a credit card to pay for it. I had LASIK at Kirk Eye Center last week and couldn't have had a better experience. Dr. Kent Kirk was awesome and I felt like he really cared about my eye health. I had previously gone for a consultation at LasikPlus and felt a little uneasy there. It felt like they were trying to get me scheduled for the procedure as fast as possible and spent more time talking about payment than looking at my eyes. I made the appointment at Kirk just to see if it was any different. Dr. Kirk had some concerns about a few things, scheduled me for some extra tests, and I felt so much more taken care of there. It felt like he actually cared about my long term wellness vs just wanting to schedule me for an expensive procedure and get me out the door. Everyone at Kirk was professional, accommodating, and friendly. The LASIK itself was so incredibly fast and painless that I could hardly believe it. Dr. Kirk and the nurses there all prepared me really well for the whole procedure and what would happen after. I'm normally very nervous for medical procedures, but I found the LASIK to be no big deal. It was certainly uncomfortable in the few hours following, but I knew it was normal and got through it with no problems. The next day, I was seeing 20/20 and I have had zero issues in the week since. I keep thinking that I'll try to take my contacts out before I go to sleep because my vision is so good. I would highly recommend going to Kirk to anyone who has been thinking about LASIK. I just had cataract surgery. I highly recommend Kirk Eye Center! I cant praise Kirk Eye Center in Gurnee and NovaMed Center in River Forest enough!. Both are professional and do an amazing job at keeping you informed and relaxed regarding the procedure. They have the process down to a choreographed science.Every dept. and every person is professional, can answer any question, they take their time with you, but they don't waste it either. I just recently finished a PRK procedure! I noticed in immediate difference as soon as the surgery was finished. The surgery, itself, was not painful for me and was extremely quick! Sure, the recovery was a little painful, as it always will be from recovering from a surgery, but they provided the proper medicines to combat the pain. The staff from start to finish was unbelievable fantastic and was some of the best customer service I’ve EVER experienced. I even received follow up phone calls from Dr. Kirk himself while in my personal time recovering. They are constantly doing follow ups after the procedure to make sure your vision is improving!
