Scott Kirk: Oftentimes, people come in with cataracts, and for their lifetime, they've been treated for astigmatism. Astigmatism is a condition where the eye is not perfectly round. With glasses, you can correct that, or with contacts, you can correct that. Now, with the femtosecond laser, we can make precise incisions to flatten the cornea in the right dimension and improve vision without the need for corrective eyewear or glasses.

Scott Kirk: We also, for those with a higher degree of astigmatism, we have implants to correct that. The implants have the astigmatism built in, and each patient gets a customized implant for their degree of astigmatism. It's placed precisely on the axis of their astigmatism and then allows them to see in the distance without the need for glasses.
