River Forest, IL | What Can a Patient Expect During and After Cataract Surgery | Kirk Eye Center
Let's Get Started

Scott Kirk: We formed our Surgery Center in 1987. We've been able to offer patients cataract surgery in a much more comfortable setting. A patient experience usually is they're here for about two hours. The preparation time to dilate the eye and give sedation is the majority of the time they're here. The surgery itself is painless. It lasts 10 to 15 minutes and they're able to walk right out of the operating room and go to dinner or go home and take a nap as they wish. Usually, the next day, the vision is remarkably good. Often in the 20-25 or better range immediately after.
